What happens after you have accepted a place at Kemsley?
Parents/carers of children who are offered a place to join Kemsley in September 2024 will be invited to a parent information meeting in June 2024 and the children will be invited to a teddy bears' picnic at the same time, which familiarise families with the school setting so that they feel ready to start in September.

After that, around June / July, we will book home visits with families. This is an opportunity for families to meet the reception staffing team and ask any questions that they may have. We also have two stay and play sessions.

Our Reception cohorts start full-time education almost immediately. On the first two days of the Autumn term, parents and pupils will meet individually with the Reception class team. This meeting allows time for our new pupils to familiarise themselves with the learning environment and for our parents to get to know the staff and share any concerns that they may have.

In-Year Admissions Process
To apply for a place at Kemsley Primary Academy you will need to complete a Kent IYAF – In Year Admission Form. In addition to this, you will also need to complete a supplementary form from the school which can be obtained by contacting the school office either by phone 01795 428689 or via email office@kemsley-academy.org

EHCP In-Year Admissions
If your child has a Kent EHCP, you will need to request a change of placement via an emergency annual review.  The school will be consulted as to whether or not we can meet your child’s needs.

Click here for more guidance from Kent County Council about moving to Kent with an EHCP from another local authority.

Children of members of the UK Armed Forces or Crown Servants
from Kent County Council’s Website – click here for direct link

If you are a member of the UK Armed Forces or a Crown Servant, with a confirmed posting to Kent, you can apply for an in year admission to a Kent school by completing an In Year Admissions Form (PDF, 303.3 KB) and sending it direct to your preferred schools. You must include an official letter that declares a relocation date and a Unit postal address or quartering area address with your application.

Where a school is able to offer a place, they will honour that place for 3 months. This can mean that a place can be kept open for the next academic year providing your child/children will start within the 3 month period. If the place has not been taken up at the end of the 3 months, the school may offer it to another child. If this happens, the school will inform you that the place is no longer available and you will need to make a new application for a school place. The school may choose to add your child’s name to their waiting list if they have one.
